Welcome to Orchard Valley
Nestled into the expansive Otorohanga countryside Orchard Valley provides a luxurious space to escape from everyday life. Our bespoke safari tent overlooks an orchard dotted with kiwifruit vines, allowing you to disconnect and detox from the outside world. Wake up and soak in the majestic sunrise from the deck while overlooking fields blanketed in green, and listen to the morning song of native birds. Our lavish offering is the ideal space for some seclusion and provides a chance to indulge yourself in the comforts of home, away from home. We invite you to sit back, relax and revel in our little slice of paradise.
Luxury Amenities
Our luxury accommodation had been purposefully designed and filled with unique pieces not only to delight the senses, but to offer optimum comfort. Curl up in front of the fireplace, have a moment’s peace in the tub or simply relax in the insulated 50m2 canvas tent. The space features a kitchen and bathroom – complete with a rain shower and eco-friendly products. Outside take a seat in the outdoor dining area which overlooks verdant fields or dip into the outdoor hot tub. There’s even a fire pit so you can toast marshmallows or make s’mores by night. And with a generous sized four-poster bed, fitted with 100% cotton sheets and feathered pillows, you’re sure to have a comfortable night’s sleep.
Things to Do
Whether you decide to hunker down in style and not leave the premises, or check out the local attractions you’ll be spoilt for choice. Soak up the sights of the property and meander at your pace to feed the ducks at the pond, choose a book from our book shelf or delve into one of our board games from the cupboard. If you do decide to tear yourself away from this idyllic setting it is only a short 12-minute drive to Waitomo. Once there you can get on the tourist beat and check out the glow worm caves and black water rafting. Peruse the local boutiques and eateries of our closest town of Otorohanga, visit our native bird at the Otorohanga Kiwi House or simply head out for a morning coffee – we recommend The Fat Kiwi for a creamy coconut flat white!
Boutique Glamping
While the outdoors is enticing, we know many of you still seek the comforts of home, which is why we’ve made sure to include the best of both worlds. At Orchard Valley you will not only be kept at the premium temperature (thanks to the canvas tent which makes it warm in winter and cool in summer) but there is also a flushing composting toilet, an ethanol burning fire, an indoor rain shower and an outdoor luxury wood burning hot tub. In the kitchen you’ll find a grill and there is a BBQ on the deck so you can whip up your own meals if you choose.
Going the Extra Mile
On arrival you’ll receive our welcome pack which features compostable slippers, bamboo toothbrushes… and even a deluxe s’more making kit! For a light breakfast, enjoy our fresh bread, free range eggs, milk and juice. Tea and coffee is provided but make sure to bring extra food for your stay if you don’t plan on sampling any of the local cuisine. Inside you’ll see we’ve handpicked plant and mineral based products from Eco Store including shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hand soaps and dishwashing liquid. And in line with our endeavor to keep our footprint as small as possible, you’ll find an eco-friendly dwelling with solar power, a flushing composting toilet, ethanol burning fire and compostable bin liners.
The Homestead
Located on our family’s 40ha farmlet the site is also home to our farmyard animals such as pigs, chickens, ducks, sheep and cows which you will see (and hear) around the property. With a goal to be as regenerative as possible and ultimately live off the land we enjoy a large veggie garden and berry patch, as well as a private orchard with many seasonal fruits and nuts. Our hope is that Orchard Valley helps you relax and unwind as you spend time in our haven of rural tranquility.
